US ex-cop pleads guilty to 13 murders, rapes

A US former policeman dubbed the “ Golden State Killer ” pleaded guilty to 13 murders Monday , as well as confessing to dozens of rapes , robberies and kidnappings , drawing a line under a sadistic crime spree that terrorized California for two decades .
Joseph DeAngelo Jr . admitted to being the notorious killer and rapist who stalked the state during the 1970 s and 1980 s , as the appalling details of his crimes were read out at a plea hearing held in Sacramento .
“ The scope of Joseph DeAngelo ’ s crime spree is simply staggering , ” prosecutor Thien Ho told the makeshift courtroom – a university ballroom converted to allow victims to attend while social distancing .
“ Each time he escaped , slipping away silently into the night, leaving communities terrified , ” Ho added .
A frail - looking DeAngelo , 74 , wheeled in wearing an orange jumpsuit and a clear face shield , rasped simply “ Yes , ” “ No , ” “ Guilty ” and “ I admit ” to the judge ’ s questions , as he consented to the terms of the plea deal .
Prosecutor Amy Holliday said the state was prepared to remove the death penalty and secure 11 consecutive life terms without parole for the former cop and Vietnam veteran .
DeAngelo was arrested in 2018 , three decades after the “ Golden State Killer” had last struck . The manhunt finally ended after investigators successfully matched DNA evidence from crime scenes with a family genealogy database used by his relatives .
He was initially charged with only the 1978 murders of Brian and Katie Maggiore , a newlywed couple who were shot dead in Rancho Cordova , a Sacramento suburb , while walking their dog . At the time , he entered no plea .
But prosecutor Ho said DeAngelo ’ s crimes encompassed “ 13 known murders and almost 50 rapes, ” as well as dozens of robberies .
The statute of limitations for the rapes have expired, but all offences were read out by prosecutors in a hearing that stretched over seven grisly hours .
In one case, the judge heard how DeAngelo had forced a victim to orally copulate him by threatening to cut off the ear of her baby boy .

German airport gets COVID-19 testing centre

One of Germany ’ s biggest airports located in the financial hub of Frankfurt , on Monday, got kitted with a coronavirus testing station , potentially allowing some passengers to avoid quarantine at their destination .
The project was inaugurated by German Biotech Company , Centogene, in conjunction with Fraport , which runs Frankfurt Airport and Lufthansa .
The plan is to offer testing to both arriving and departing Lufthansa passengers until the end of July 2021 , at a walk - in centre close to the terminal building .
Centogene referred to the programme as a blueprint to opening international borders, hoping the testing would assist travellers to get regulations at their destination .
Many countries require a negative test result within the past 72 hours to allow direct entry.
According to Centogene Chief Executive , Arndt Rolfs , testing can be carried out either the day before departure or in a fast - track process on the day of traveling, with results sent through a digital platform linking them with flyer ’ s ticket.
Lufthansa Group’ s Bjoern Becker said by opening the test centre , the company was offering its guests a comfortable opportunity to test themselves for flights abroad or a stay in Germany to avoid quarantine .

Rape would reduce if society embraces porn and stop frowning at it - Amara Maduka

Nollywood actress Amara Maduka, has asked Nigerian men to embrace p.o.r.n instead of r.a.p.i.n.g women. She also encouraged the society to stop frowning at p.o/r/n assuring it will help men stop r.a.p.e.

She made this known in an interview with the NewTelegraph saying;

''In my opinion adult contents has nothing to do with r.a.p.e. As a matter of fact, r.a.p.e would reduce if the society embraced adult contents instead of frown at it. It’s basic knowledge that mankind will always long for the forbidden fruit.

Because it’s a big deal, people are going to always crave it. But if it’s embraced and the men know that a woman’s body is just a body.

Everyone has one and it’s not a big deal to see a woman’s body because their sisters have one and their mothers have one, then they would see every woman as human and not an object.

And whatever happened to masturbating? They have plastic vagina now and they won’t burn in hell for wanking when they’re horny, instead of raping they should probably watch some “adult contents” and masturbate. And all that aside, people really need to practice self control.''

Black officer in George Floyd killing has a Nigerian father

One of the black police officers at the scene of the killing of George Floyd by a white officer in Minneapolis in May has a Nigerian father [everyone wants to use Nigeria to trend]

Alex Kueng who joined the police largely because he believed diversity could force change in a Police Department long accused of racism,

New York Times reported that Mr Floyd, whose name has been painted on murals and scrawled on protest signs, has been laid to rest. Mr Kueng, who faces charges of aiding and abetting in Mr Floyd’s death, is out on bail, hounded at the supermarket by strangers and denounced by some family members.

Long before Mr Kueng was arrested, he had wrestled with the issue of police abuse of black people, joining the force in part to help protect people close to him from police aggression. He argued that diversity could force change in a Police Department long accused of racism.

He had seen one sibling arrested and treated poorly, in his view, by sheriff’s deputies. He had found himself defending his decision to join the police force, saying he thought it was the best way to fix a broken system. He had clashed with friends over whether public demonstrations could actually make things better.

“He said, ‘Don’t you think that that needs to be done from the inside?’” his mother, Joni Kueng, recalled him saying after he watched protesters block a highway years ago. “That’s part of the reason why he wanted to become a police officer — and a black police officer on top of it — is to bridge that gap in the community, change the narrative between the officers and the black community.”

As hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated against the police after Mr Floyd’s killing on May 25, Mr Kueng became part of a national debate over police violence toward black people, a symbol of the very sort of policing he had long said he wanted to stop.

Derek Chauvin, the officer who placed his knee on Mr Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes, has been most widely associated with the case. He faces charges of second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter; Mr Kueng and two other former officers were charged with aiding and abetting the killing. At 26, Mr Kueng was the youngest and least experienced officer at the scene, on only his third shift as a full officer.

The arrest of Mr Kueng, whose mother is white and whose father was from Nigeria, has brought anguish to his friends and family. “It’s a gut punch,” Ms Kueng said. “Here you are, you’ve raised this child, you know who he is inside and out. We’re such a racially diverse family. To be wrapped up in a racially motivated incident like this is just unfathomable.”

Two of Mr Kueng’s siblings, Taylor and Radiance, both of whom are African-American, called for the arrests of all four officers, including their brother. They joined protests in Minneapolis.

Lagos begins enforcement of laws on distressed buildings

The Lagos State Government has begun stiff enforcement of laws against distressed buildings and called on property owners to carry out immediate integrity tests or risk demolition.

The General Manager, Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory (LSMTL), Dr Afolabi Abiodun, told the News Agency of Nigeria that property owners who did not ascertain the structural stability of their buildings risked sanctions.

Abiodun advised construction companies, developers, estate agents, builders and other stakeholders in the built environment to comply by testing their construction materials, ongoing and completed buildings to avert risks.

He said that enforcement would be more proactive in line with the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s zero tolerance for building collapse, saying that, using the right materials would prevent construction failure.

The general manager who assumed office in February said that soil test was also very important before any kind of construction to safeguard the construction from imminent collapse.

“Enforcement has taken a new toll in Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory now. Before my arrival, there was no enforcement and that is why I say there is a new Sheriff in town to unleash the law of the agency on all distressed buildings.

“There is need for those who have completed their buildings to do the Non-Destructive Test (NDT) and this test which we call the NDT is to be done every five years,’’ he said.

Ajimobi laid to rest at his Oluyole residence

He was buried at his Oluyole residence at about 10 a.m.

The burial was witnessed by his wife, children as well as very close associates.

Meanwhile, hundred of associates, friends and supporters were awaiting the body at the Senator Ishiaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque, Oke Ado.
The family sent out the dummy to control the massive crowd already awaiting the remains of the corpse as well as allow for easier crowd control.

The burial also ended the controversy over his final resting place.

Ajimobi’s family wanted him buried in his home in Agodi GRA.

But the Seyi Makinde government disallowed it because the land was under litigation.

Instead, it supported the burial in Oluyole, his first home in Ibadan built over 40 years ago.

Scientist Says COVID-19 victims don’t fully recover

Scientists have warned that COVID-19 causes a far wider range of health problems than previously thought and that victims may never fully recover from its debilitating effects.

According to them, COVID-19 does not just cause a wide range of symptoms, the symptoms last for a longer timespan.

“We thought this was only a respiratory virus. Turns out, it goes after the pancreas. It goes after the heart. It goes after the liver, the brain, the kidney and other organs. We didn’t appreciate that in the beginning,” Dr. Eric Topol, a cardiologist and director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute in La Jolla, California told Reuters.

Pregnant 13-year-old girl 'scared' of giving birth as 10-year-old boyfriend vows to help her raise baby

Pregnant teen Darya Sudnishnikova admits she is scared about giving birth as her baby's arrival draws closer.

The girl was 13 when she announced the father of her unborn child was 10-year-old Ivan on a primetime TV show in their native Russia.

She has since bravely opened up about the harrowing truth, confessing that she made up the claim because she did not want to admit being raped by a 15-year-old boy in her nuclear production home town of Zheleznogorsk.

Darya has now become a social media star with more than 113,000 followers on Instagram and regularly gives updates about her pregnancy.

A state investigator from Moscow was looking into her r.a.p.e allegation and that action would depend on a DNA test once the baby has arrived.

Young Ivan has pledged to raise the child as his own and has supported girlfriend Darya throughout her pregnancy.

Darya recently revealed in a question and answer session with followers on her Instagram that the thought of giving birth is '"scary".

Asked if she was afraid of her baby's impending arrival, she replied: “Yes, giving birth is scary. I am afraid of pain during natural birth, therefore I am more prone to caesarean.”
This week, in a sweet post from the couple on Instagram which shows Ivan kissing her bump, Darya said that in the early stages of pregnancy, "everything was fine, but then..."

She went on to detail some of the things she has struggled with during the pregnancy, revealing she was "very sick" during the first trimester, although this has fortunately now subsided.
Darya also said that she has suffered during her pregnancy from a low hemoglobin count, heartburn and constipation, which "are present in many pregnant women".

Speaking of the troubles she's had with her pregnancy, and revealing her biggest fear for the baby's birth, she added: " Stretch marks – I didn’t think that I would ever have them, but they appeared.

"Fear of giving birth – Honestly, I'm afraid to give birth. What pain there will be ... And painful contractions. It is uncomfortable to sleep."

Psychologist Oksana Anishchenko said her social media fame was helping her overcome her trauma.

Dr Evgeny Grekov, a urology and andrology expert, who examined Ivan told TV viewers in a show called ‘Father at 10!?’ : “We rechecked the laboratory results three times so there cannot be any mistake.”

The medic said on camera: “There cannot be sperm cells.

“He is still a child.”

A male neighbour in in Zheleznogorsk, a town closed to outsiders because of its secret nuclear work, said: “Obviously, someone else did this.

Scientists have warned that COVID-19 causes a far wider range of health problems than previously thought and that victims may never fully recover from its debilitating effects.
