In an interview that has touched the core of the Nigerian entertainment industry, veteran actress Yetunde Ogunsola has shared the deeply personal and tragic medical journey of her late husband, Chief Timothy Ishola Ogunsola, popularly known as "I Sho Pepper," revealing a cautionary tale of medical negligence and the consequences of ignoring health warnings.
The narrative unfolds with a series of fateful decisions that would ultimately lead to the beloved actor's untimely demise. On what seemed like a routine performance trip to Ado-Ekiti, I Sho Pepper's life would take a dramatic and ultimately fatal turn, traced back to a crucial moment of medical advice deliberately overlooked.
Before departing for his stage performance, the actor made a seemingly innocuous stop to visit a doctor friend. What transpired during this visit would prove to be a critical juncture in his health journey. The medical professional conducted a quick examination and discovered alarmingly high blood pressure, strongly advising the actor to abandon his travel plans and rest.
"His friend was a medical doctor, and he suggested that my husband undergo a quick test," Yetunde Ogunsola recounted. "During the test, the doctor discovered that my husband's blood pressure was very high. He said, 'I Sho, your blood pressure is very high. Don't go to the location; go back home because you need to rest.'"
But in a decision that would haunt his family, I Sho Pepper refused to heed the medical advice. Determined to proceed with his professional commitments, he continued with his performance and subsequently traveled to Lagos to record a song.
The situation rapidly deteriorated. While his wife was in Ibadan, she received a distressing call reporting that her husband was bleeding from his tongue. The medical emergency that followed was as sudden as it was severe. Just before a medical procedure, I Sho Pepper slipped into a coma, remaining unconscious for nine critical days.
Although he eventually regained consciousness and returned home to Ibadan, the damage had been done. His health remained fragile, and tragically, he passed away a year after this harrowing incident.
The entertainment industry and fans of I Sho Pepper have been left to mourn not just the loss of a talented performer, but a life cut short by what appears to be a combination of medical complications and personal determination.
