A Director Called Me at 12AM That He Needed Me, So I Went To Meet Him But Got Embarrassed him – Taofeek

Popular Yoruba Nollywood actress, Adekemi Taofeek, has shared a distressing experience she had while trying to make a return to the movie industry after taking time off to focus on her family.

In an interview on Kunle Afod’s official YouTube channel, she recounted how a respected director mistreated her on set despite their prior agreement.

Taofeek explained that after giving birth, she had initially decided not to return to acting immediately because she wanted to prioritize her family.

However, a director she admired reached out and convinced her to take part in a project, assuring her that she would only be needed for a day. Trusting his words, she agreed to the job and made arrangements to be on set.

Upon arrival, however, things did not go as expected. On the first day, she was not given any scenes to shoot, leaving her idle despite their agreed-upon schedule.

By the second day, she realized that her time was being wasted, so she asked someone to bring her child to the location, ensuring she could balance work and motherhood.

The situation took a turn for the worse when, at midnight, the director called her, saying he needed her immediately. Although it was an odd hour, Taofeek, committed to professionalism, left her child at the hotel and rushed to the set.

However, she was met with further disappointment. She remained on standby until 3 a.m. without being called to act, making her feel both disrespected and undervalued.

Adding to her frustration, she sensed that the crew was treating her differently because she was a nursing mother who had taken a break from the industry. Feeling hurt and unappreciated, Taofeek decided to leave the set.

In her words; "When I had my child, I never intended to return to work immediately because I’m a family-oriented person. I wanted to take my time before going back to the movie industry. However, a director I respected called me and asked me to come and shoot for a day. We had already agreed on a price, but when I got to the set, I didn’t do anything on the first day. As the second day approached, I asked someone to bring my child. At 12 a.m., the director called me, saying he needed me, so I left my child at the hotel and went to the location."

"Many things happened there that made me feel disrespected. Up until 3 a.m., I hadn’t shot any scenes, and my child was still in the hotel. Just because I was a nursing mother and had been away from the industry for a while to focus on my family, they started treating me as if I had lost my dignity or was no longer a star. Feeling embarrassed, I decided to leave. The next day, the hotel asked me to check out since my payment had expired. I hadn’t planned on staying more than two days based on my prior agreement. Despite everything that happened, neither the director nor any crew members called to check up on me," she added.

Kidnappers Release Ex-NYSC DG Brig-Gen Tsiga

The former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), has been released from captivity following the payment of N250million ransom to his abductors.

A credible source, who disclosed the development to LEADERSHIP during a telephone conversation, said a family member of the General Tsiga disclosed his release on Friday.

Tsiga was abducted on February 6, 2025, from his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State by armed men.

The kidnappers, led by notorious bandit leader Babaro, had initially demanded the hefty ransom for his release. After 22 days in captivity, credible sources confirmed that Tsiga has been freed and is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.

Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Command was yet to issue any official statement regarding his release.

During the attack, two individuals sustained injuries, and one of the attackers was accidentally shot dead by his gang member.

They took my N15,000. One of them wore the NYSC khaki with my cap" Freed corps member says

Rofiat Lawal, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was recently freed after being kidnapped on the Benin-Ore Expressway

According to the Nigerian Tribune, it was reported that she shared her experience in a video on Facebook after her release on Saturday, which came after her family paid a ransom of N1.1 million to the kidnappers.

In the video, Lawal described how her captors took everything she had with her, including her NYSC uniform. She mentioned that one of the kidnappers even wore her uniform and cap.

During the four days she was held captive, she explained that the kidnappers forced her and the others to walk through the forest every night.

She said, “When we entered the bush, they first searched all our bodies. They collected our phones and money. Those market women were going to buy fish at the market. They collected their money; N700,000, N1.2 million, N600,000, but I had only N15,000, so they took my N15,000, and my phone."

Further talking, she said, “They even took my khaki—my NYSC clothes. One of them wore the NYSC khaki with my cap.”

She further disclosed that, although she was not tortured as severely as the older women who were kidnapped alongside her, she was slapped on multiple occasions.

Bank mistakenly pays $81 trillion into customer’s account

  • The transaction was reversed several hours late
  • The bank experienced 10 near misses of $1 billion or more in 2024, down from 13 such cases the prior year
  • Citibank says incident did not affect the bank or the customer

Citigroup mistakenly credited $81 trillion to a customer’s account instead of $280 before reversing the transaction hours later, the Financial Times reported on Friday.

The error took place last April and was missed by a payments employee and a second worker before it was cleared to process the following day, according to the newspaper, which cited an internal account and two people familiar with the matter.

A third employee discovered the error an hour and a half after the payment was processed; the transaction was reversed several hours later, the Financial Times said.

No funds left the bank and the “near miss” was disclosed to the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the report said.

“Despite the fact that a payment of this size could not actually have been executed, our detective controls promptly identified the inputting error between two Citi ledger accounts, and we reversed the entry,” a Citigroup spokesperson stated in an email. “Our preventative controls would have also stopped any funds leaving the bank.”

The incident did not affect the bank or the customer, Citi added.

The bank experienced 10 near misses of $1 billion or more in 2024, down from 13 such cases the prior year, according to the FT, which cited an internal report.

Trump Orders President Zelensky Out Of White House

A senior White House official provided details on Friday regarding a tense confrontation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during their recent meeting at the White House. The encounter, which reportedly turned heated, resulted in the abrupt cancellation of a key minerals agreement between Washington and Kyiv.

According to the official, Trump met with top advisers in the Oval Office following the discussion with Zelensky. Among those present were Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. After deliberations, Trump concluded that Zelensky was "not in a position to negotiate" and subsequently directed Rubio and Waltz to inform the Ukrainian leader that it was time for him to leave the White House.

According to reports from CBS News, the fallout from the meeting also led to the cancellation of a planned signing ceremony for the minerals agreement between the two nations. The deal, which had been in the works for months, was expected to bolster Ukraine’s economy while strengthening U.S. access to critical resources. However, in light of the tense exchange, Trump decided to scrap the agreement entirely.

Following the encounter, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to share his perspective on the meeting. Describing it as "very productive," he claimed that the discussions provided insights that would not have been possible under less confrontational circumstances.

"I have concluded that President Zelensky is not ready for peace," Trump wrote. "He believes our involvement in the conflict gives him leverage in negotiations but I don’t want leverage, I want peace."

Trump also accused Zelensky of showing a lack of respect toward the United States during their discussions in the Oval Office. "He can return only when he is ready for peace," the president stated, signaling a clear shift in his
