#EndSARS: Wamakko lauds northern youths for refusing to join protests

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence , Senator Aliyu Wamakko, has commended youths in the northern part of the country for refusing to join the # EndSARS protests.
Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District , gave the commendation while addressing a mammoth crowd of youths shortly after his return to Sokoto from Abuja .
He said , “ I am highly elated with the disciplined and peaceful disposition of the northern youths , even in the face of the provocations and altercations occasioned by the protests that turned violent and lost its original focus , as well as intentions .
“ I wondered why the destructive protests raged on even when the Federal Government had acceded to the demands of the protesters .
“ One of the key demands of the protesters was the disbandment of SARS and it was immediately disbanded .
“ Even President Muhammadu Buhari himself had earlier told the youths that they had good intentions , only for them to deviate from the initial noble cause . ”
Wamakko described the youths as the beacons of hope in the country, hence they should not allow themselves to be used by some disgruntled and unpatriotic elements.
He reiterated the commitment of the National Assembly to the Nigerian project , as well as ensuring that youths fully realise their potential.

Lagos police arrest Pretty Mike over noncompliance to COVID19 protocols by Cubana nightclub

The Lagos Police Command has arrested socialite, Mike Eze, popularly known as Pretty Mike over the alleged breaching of COVID19 protocols by Cubana Nightclub.   The Nation reports that Eze is alleged to be a director in the Cubana group and went to the Bar Beach Police Division on Thursday morning, March 4, following last weekend’s arrest of 172 workers and clubbers at the Victoria Island branch of the nightclub.   The police on Monday, March 1, vowed to arrest the club owners or anyone who came forward to push the reopening of the nightclub as the club had consistently violated the COVID19 protocols.   Confirming his arrest, Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu said Eze would be charged to court after he denied being a director at the club.   “Yes, we have arrested him and I have directed he be transferred to Ikeja where he would be charged to court'' Odumosu said"
