They took my N15,000. One of them wore the NYSC khaki with my cap" Freed corps member says

Rofiat Lawal, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was recently freed after being kidnapped on the Benin-Ore Expressway

According to the Nigerian Tribune, it was reported that she shared her experience in a video on Facebook after her release on Saturday, which came after her family paid a ransom of N1.1 million to the kidnappers.

In the video, Lawal described how her captors took everything she had with her, including her NYSC uniform. She mentioned that one of the kidnappers even wore her uniform and cap.

During the four days she was held captive, she explained that the kidnappers forced her and the others to walk through the forest every night.

She said, “When we entered the bush, they first searched all our bodies. They collected our phones and money. Those market women were going to buy fish at the market. They collected their money; N700,000, N1.2 million, N600,000, but I had only N15,000, so they took my N15,000, and my phone."

Further talking, she said, “They even took my khaki—my NYSC clothes. One of them wore the NYSC khaki with my cap.”

She further disclosed that, although she was not tortured as severely as the older women who were kidnapped alongside her, she was slapped on multiple occasions.
